Upwey Psychology ~ Fee Increase from 1 September 2016

Medicare Rebate Indexation Freeze until 2018

Prior to 1 July 2014, Medicare Rebates were increased annually on the 1st of November to keep pace with rising costs for living. Medicare indexation freeze was announced in 2014 and will be in place until 2018. Medicare rebate will not be increased for four years from 1 July 2014 until July 2018.

We are committed to providing excellent treatment services at Upwey Psychology for an affordable fee. We have from the 1 January 2014 maintained a standard out of pocket fee. Our intention was to increase our fees annually, with the Medicare Rebate increase, so we would be able to maintain a standard out of pocket cost to you.

UPWEY PSYCHOLOGY FEES FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2016

  • Full Fee ……………………………………………………………………………………………………………$144.80
  • Couple Fee ……………………………………………………………………………………………………….$164.80

Although Medicare Rebates have not and will not increase until 2018, the cost of living has and will over the freeze period. We intend to maintain a standard out of pocket cost and continue offering psychological services for an affordable fee, however it is necessary for us to increase our fees from 1 SEPTEMBER 2016.

OUT OF POCKET COSTS FROM 1 SEPTEMBER 2016

  • Full Fee …………………………………………………………………………………………………………….$60.00
  • Couple Fee ………………………………………………………………………………………………………..$80.00

Additionally from 1 SEPTEMBER 2016 we will no longer be offering counselling services at a concession rate. The reason for this decision relates to the impact offering a concession rate has had on therapeutic outcomes. We found that offering counselling services at a concession rate resulted in more frequent cancellations of appointments and less personal investment in counselling, less commitment to completing the activities necessary for positive change.
