REMOTE SESSIONS from 30 March 2020
As the spread of COVID-19 gains momentum, the need to put in place measures to slow and prevent the rate of transmission becomes both serious and important.
Practicing regular hand washing and social distancing are simple ways to slow transmission and protect ourselves and others.
Medicare Rebates available for Remote Sessions
We will only be offering REMOTE SESSIONS from 30 March 2020.
The Minister for Health announced that the Government will enable all psychologists who are currently authorised to use telehealth item numbers, to use telehealth for all consultations with all their clients from Monday 30th March 2020.
Upwey Psychology is supporting and implementing the measures recommended by the World Health Organization, the Australian Government Health Department and the Australian Psychological Society in terms of the best practice response to this health challenge.
Choose to have Remote Sessions
From Monday 23 March 2020, we will be requesting that where possible, individuals self select to have their sessions remotely, either online using the video conferencing app ZOOM, click to download, or over the telephone.
- Sessions will still be eligible for Medicare Rebates with a current Mental Health Care Plan/GP Referral
- Using ZOOM is easy. DON’T PANIC. You will need either an iphone, smart phone or a Computer with camera and microphone working. Try to download the app. You will receive fon support just before the session to help you use the app

In-Clinic Sessions are not available from 30 March 2020
We will be closely monitoring the Australian Government Health Department and the Australian Psychological Society’s updates to determine when these measures may be relaxed.
