Every year, in the last week of October, the Naturopaths and Herbalists’ Association of Australia hosts #HerbalMedicineWeek.

This week, as practicing Naturopaths and Herbalists, we hope to …
- Make herbal medicine accessible to everyone
- Provide education and raise awareness around self-sufficiency (wild crafting), using herbs as both medicine and food
- Encourage awareness and nurture experience of the natural world and connection to the Land

The practice of Herbal Medicine has many levels and approaches. Herbs can be considered a food and a medicine and have physical, psychological and even spiritual applications.
Matthew Wood, a world renowned Master Herbalist, and Phyllis Light, Southern Folk Herbalist, sharing some healing stories. Both Matthew and Phyllis practice in the folk medicine tradition of North America. Both have collected much wisdom from traditional sources in their many years of practice.

Curious and want to learn more? The Matthew Wood Institute offers online classes on every aspect of herbal medicine practice.
